The safetyprocedures used should be appropriate to the level of dangerand risk associated with the particular installation. These safetyprocedures should include all of the precautions describedbelow and any additional safety measures appropriate to theparticular installation, including the shop or plant safety rulesnormally in effect.The robot should be approached with the same caution as any
other industrial machine. Although ABB robots are designed forthe greatest possible safety, no machine is completely safe andit is impossible to entirely eliminate the human factor.This robot was designed with safety in mind. It has a dedicatedsafety system based on a two-channel circuit which is monitoredcontinuously. If an error occurs, the electrical power supplied tothe motors shuts off and the brakes engage.For additional information about robot safety, see AmericanNational Standard for Industrial Robots and Robot Systems,ANSI/RIA R15.06-1992.LOCK-OUT protection should be used whenever power is notrequired on the robot system.
