The BIU configures modules slot-by-slot, starting with slot one. It continues to slot eight or the first empty slot. Autoconfiguration assigns I/O memory to each module and uses the module’s default configuration. The configuration can be edited using a Hand-held Programmer. This must be done in any of the following cases:
There is a module installed after an empty slot.
A module must be deleted after configuration.
A different type of module is installed in a slot after configuration.
A module’s default features need to be changed.
